Dear Friends,
Twenty-seven years in the herbal world has taught me to be more humble and listen to the plants and their needs, as well as my own.
I still have a lovely retail set-up in my 30-ft. yurt and would love to have you come buy your products here, or through our website or mail-order catalog. You may also find me at the Port Townsend Farmer's Market and a few craft fairs (see below).
I am an earth-based company and have the pleasure of stewarding seven acres of mostly cedar forest and wetlands. I have chosen to keep my life and dreams simple. The products I make reflect those choices. In between the cedars and wetlands I have created mixed herbal and vegetable gardens. Most of my fresh-made products come from these gardens and the surrounding land. I still have to supplement my harvest with high-quality herbs organically grown by other farmers, or wild harvested from our local region and elsewhere.
Thank you for supporting local, sustainable, small herbal companies. I hope to hear from you, as I look forward to the time I spend with you, my customers.
I am also available for herbal consultations. I can work over the phone or in person. Each consultation takes about one hour and is paid for by your donation (suggested donations $20 to $100). Feel free to phone for an appointment—360-385-4491. With the warmest blessings, Denise Joy
Denise Joy is a fourth generation herbalist whose education was begun by her great-grandmother Fanny at age 8. The knowledge she gained through books and self-teaching has been augmented by studying with Auntie Margaret in Hawaii and Loren Cruden in Washington state. She is available for herbal consultations to the community and customers. For 22 years she has owned and operated Mountain Spirit Herbals, a company which specializes in herbal medicine. She makes, grows and wildcrafts much of the company's product. She regularly offers opportunities to local at-risk youth to learn herbal medicine. She has had over 50 apprentices and taught throughout Washington State and the Pacific Northwest.
Consultations available by request, fees on a sliding scale.
